Dandruff, or medically known as Seborrhea is a common scalp disease due to different factors such as poor brushing, stress, excessive use of hair products, poor hair hygiene, dry skin and improper diet.
It is more prevalent in adolescent but can also affect people of any age group. Before you expose your hair to harmful chemicals, here are some home remedies to combat that irritating and embarrassing dandruff:
Banana and Avocado Hair Combo
Try this home remedy for dandruff to provide relief for itchy scalp, reduce inflammation, and provide hair nourishment:
Smash 2 bananas with 1 ripe avocado. Mix well and apply to hair. Wait at least half an hour before rinsing thoroughly.
Lemon and Coconut oil Scalp massage
This home remedy has citric property (lemon) to reduce the occurrence of dandruff and the coconut oil helps to give shiny and smooth hair.
Heat 2 tbsp. of coconut oil then add 2 tbsp. of lemon juice. Massage on the scalp. Wait for 30 minutes before rinsing well with a mild shampoo. Repeat 3-4 times a week for best results.
Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Treatment
This home remedy fights the fungus that causes dandruff: Mix 1 part water with 1 part of apple cider vinegar. Wash the hair as usual before applying this mixture. Massage the scalp thoroughly but be careful that it does not get into your eyes. Leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing off with water. Repeat daily for 1 week.
Baking Soda Scalp Scrub
Take about a spoonful of baking soda and massage gently through the scalp. Leave on for 1-2 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Repeat four times a week for a few weeks to get better results.
Aloe Vera
Its gel helps to moisturize hair and s a great remedy for excessive dryness and itching brought about by dandruff.
Spread some fresh aloe Vera gel onto your scalp using your fingers.
Allow it to sit for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash your hair with a mild shampoo.
Tea tree oil
Just apply a small amount of this oil to the scalp and leave on for 5 minutes before rinsing. Repeat this procedure 2-3 times per week.
Curd hair mask
The acidic content of the curd helps to fight the fungal infection that causes dandruff and acts as a hair conditioner to make hair shiny and smooth.
