The 53-year old former heavyweight boxing champ Frank Bruno was admitted to a hospital recently, not because of any physical pain, but due to “severe bout of depression.” According to Mirror, the London born athlete, who had 40 wins that include WBC world title against Oliver McCall over his 45 professional fights, is been fighting this problem since he bid goodbye from boxing world in 1996.

mocrat MP and mental health campaigner Norman Lamb shared on Mirror.
Typically people tend to think that a person’s ever changing way of thinking or feeling is just a sample of mood swings. In contrast to this, ABC News reported that if mood swings cannot hamper one’s day-to-day life, In Bipolar disorder it can go long and uncontrollable situation.
“When a person has bipolar disorder, the mood swings are such that they disrupt your life, sometimes completely,” ABC News shared. “You can be so depressed that you cannot get out of bed. You can be so depressed that you don’t want to live.
The report also added that persons with bipolar disorder could go extreme like spending great fortune or be involved in a street quarrel.
Meantime, the solutions for bipolar disorder vary and it can take several months to stabilize the condition of a patient.
“The presence of bipolar disorder indicates a biochemical imbalance which alters a person’s moods. This imbalance is thought to be caused by irregular hormone production or to a problem with certain chemicals in the brain, called neurotransmitters, that act as messengers to our nerve cells,” Mental Health America explained.
The agency also that it can be treated and recovery is attainable. MHA noted Olanzapine (Zyprexa), Carbomazepine (Tegratolm, divalproex sodium (Depakote), and can be use as medications for bipolar disease. Lithium is the common effective in controlling mania. On the other hand, they also added that the importance education and guidance of mental health professional.
“Support and self-help groups are also an invaluable resource for learning coping skills, feeling acceptance and avoiding social isolation. Friends and family should join a support group to better understand the illness so that they can continue to offer encouragement and support to their loves ones,” MHA advised.
