KNOW WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING WITH THE SHOES.

Are you a jogger or a runner? Where do you run most often? Is it on trails, asphalt, or a treadmill? Are you training for a race or a marathon? How much do you run in a week?

According to Bruce Wilk, a physical therapist in Miami, the first step in finding the right running shoes is to specifically know what you are going to do with them.

YOUR RUNNING TECHNIQUE.

When choosing a running shoe, it is also important to determine which part of your foot touches the ground first and receives the most pressure. Is it your forefoot or your heel?

It is important so that you can determine which cushion is just right for you. You also need to remember which part of your feet gets the most sores, blisters, or aches when you run so that you can choose the running shoes which could address these problems.

PRONATOR OR SUPINATOR?

Another thing that you must consider when buying running shoes is the arch of your feet. There are shoe stores that do the “wet test” where, they moisten your feet and makes you walk so that the imprint of your feet will tell whether you pronate (roll to the inside of your foot) or supinate (roll to the outside of your foot) or remain neutral when you are running.

According to an exercise physiologist, Jesse Pittsley, Ph.D. : “You have to determine the arch of your foot. If you have a flat foot, you are going to need a stability shoe, and when you have a higher foot arch, and then you need a curved shoe.”

TRY AND TRY AND DO THE TEST DRIVE

Once you narrow down your choices based on the above considerations, it’s now time to try the shoes. Make sure they fit snugly. You can also bring the socks you usually wear when running to know how exactly the shoes will feel when you put them on. Run, jog, and walk a little for you to find the best running shoes.

CONSIDER YOUR BUDGET

While you want to buy what’s best for you, shopping for running shoes doesn’t need to drain your budget.

Another way to narrow your choices is to pick up the shoe that offers value for money. Of course, it has to fit your budget and have a good quality as well.

Finally, are you ready to shop? Bear these tips in mind and enjoy running!
