It’s really frustrating when your day seems to be a lot stressful. But in the end, it seems that you don’t have accomplished anything. So here are some ways that you can try to increase productivity:
WORK OUT BEFORE WORK
Of course, you know the benefits of exercise on mind and body. Exercise facilitates blood flow to your entire body, especially to the brains which can enhance your mental productivity.
It also provides optimum body functions. But you just don’t have the “time”. Try this simple experiment: try working out before going to work or squeeze work out during your breaks.
Then compare how you felt or your accomplishment when you workout and when you don’t work out.
HAVE SOME QUIET “ME” TIME BEFORE AND AFTER WORK
If you think that your body is a machine that you can just turn on and off “work mode”, you’re wrong. Because even machines need some “warm up” time before getting to work and so does your body. Wake up earlier and meditate.
Spend this time to think about things which you might neglect when you work like your family concerns and the real reason why you go to work every day. This strategy is also applicable before you go home.
Spend at least 15 minutes of alone time to give your body some time to realize that work is done and you are going home.
FOCUS ON SINGLE TASK AT A GIVEN TIME
Sure you have your everyday “to-do list” and you’ll definitely finish what’s on the list. But at the end of the day, the question is: are you really productive?
Effective multitasking coupled with increased productivity is a rare gift that most of us don’t possess. So don’t try punishing yourself every day by multitasking.
Keep in mind what is the goal of your company. And what is your task at the company? Focus on a task at a given time. Schedule a time when you will check and send e-mails.
WORK WITH A TEAM
Never underestimate the power of teamwork. Each part of a team will just focus on a given task and help each other to focus and not to get distracted. Also, you can increase your productivity if you get along well with other members of the group and you are comfortable in your work environment.
Be in a company that fosters teamwork which will enable you to bring out the best in others and others can help you bring out the best of yourself.
MAKE YOUR FAMILY YOUR ULTIMATE “TEAM”
It is very sad when you have increased productivity on your job but your family life is slowly fading away. If you can be a team mate with other people outside your home, how much more with your own kids, spouse, or parents?
Make them understand the nature of your work, especially when you have kids. Make them feel that they are the ultimate reason why you are working and that they have a part in you.
Spend time with your family; understand your kids and your spouse and take some time to visit your parents. It may take a lot of effort but in the end, you’ll see that a peaceful family life is the greatest key to your personal productivity.
There are many other ways to enhance your productivity but start with these basics and see the difference you’ll make when you try these strategies.
