If you wanted to lose weight, you need to pay attention to what’s causing you all these weight gains. Experts say these four bad habits are largely to blame:
1. Eating Out
Filipinos eat out more often nowadays than ever before. While eating outside saves time and energy, it’s not good for the waistline.
2. Super-sizing
Most people choose to eat fast food even though they know it’s bad for them. We want to make the most out of money and that includes adding a few bucks for food upgrades. We like upgrading our food and drinks from regular to large. By upgrading, I mean more food, more calories, more fats.
3. Liquid sugar
It’s good to drink refreshing soda under the heat of the sun but be sure to watch your portion sizes. Studies have shown that people who drink two or more diet sodas a day have waist size increases up to six times greater than those of people who don’t drink diet soda.
4. Too much TV or movies
Having a couch potato lifestyle as a way of distressing forms bad food habits. Who wouldn’t want to eat that all time favorite chips while watching that favorite movie? You wouldn’t even notice how much food you’ve consumed as you enjoy watching. Instead, when you want to unwind, do something active and productive. Head to the park, hit the gym, play games.
5. Lack of sleep
New research suggests sleepless nights don’t just ruin your mood the next day—they could also damage your waistline. The later you’re up at night, the greater the likelihood that you’re going to eat. The longer you’re awake, the higher than chance you’ll get hungry. When we get too little shut-eye, our metabolism slows down to conserve energy which triggers the release of the hormone cortisol, which increases appetite. Your body thinks it needs more energy, so it asks for more food.
